    The variables x and y satisfy the following two equations:
    x + 3y = 13
    2x – y = 5
    What is the value of x + y ?

    A. 7

    For this question, you should know how to equalize and solve quadratic equations.

    There are 2-3 ways with which you can solve this question.

    The easiest one is to arrange equation 2 in such a way that you get it in terms of y and put it in equation 1 in place of y.

    This will give you the value of x. Then put this x in any of the equation to get value of y.

    Then simply add x+y to get the value.
